IP Justice is dependent upon the voluntary energy of people like you, who donate your time and expertise to further IP Justice’s mission of promoting more balanced intellectual property laws. IP Justice is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in San Francisco. We are currently accepting applications for volunteer Development Directors, Volunteer Attorneys, Legal/Policy/Technology Interns, and Webmasters (details below).
- All positions can be “virtualâ€, so international applicants are encouraged to apply;
- IP Justice office is in San Francisco, USA, for SF Bay Area applicants;
- All positions are unpaid;
- Flexible hours and commitment levels.

Development Directors:
Duties: Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including writing grant applications, seeking sponsorships, and individual donations to support IP Justice’s policy work. (Part-time to full-time.)
Skills required: Basic understanding of non-profit fundraising options. Basic understanding of IP Justice’s policy issues. Individuals must be highly motivated and able to act independently. International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Volunteer Attorneys:
Duties: Provide occasional legal advice and attorney referrals to IP Justice regarding a particular country’s intellectual property law or practice. (Part-time.)
Skills required: Licensed attorney in any country or state. Please indicate legal specialty and country in which you practice in application. International attorneys are strongly encouraged to apply.
Legal Interns:
Duties: Legal research and writing on international intellectual property rights and civil liberties issues. Draft policy papers, FAQs, amicus briefs, and other articles on legal matters regarding intellectual property rights. (Part-time to full-time.)
Skills required: Law student with focused knowledge in international law, intellectual property law or civil liberties. Good writing skills are required and applicants must be Internet-savvy. International law students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Policy Interns:
Duties: Research policy issues and write memos on international property rights and civil liberties issues. Draft press releases and policy papers. Help provide regular updates to the IP Justice website. Assist in publishing an e-newsletter. (Part-time to full-time.)
Skills required: College or University student with solid analytical and writing skills. Applicants must be Internet-savvy. Media experience is highly valued. International students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Technology Interns:
Duties: Assist in building and maintaining online and offline databases, software applications, web site maintenance, and other technology related issues at IP Justice. (Part-time to full-time.)
Skills required: Experience in computer programming, building and maintaining databases, web applications, and server and network administration. College students are encouraged to apply.
Webmaster:
Duties: Manage IP Justice website and over-see and implement its growth. Supervise technology interns and provide basic technology advice and services to IP Justice. (Part-time to full-time.)
Skills required: Experience in website administration, web design, building and maintaining databases, and server and network administration. Applicants with management experience are strongly encouraged.
