Allonn E. Levy is a member of the Litigation and Employment Law Departments. He joined Hopkins & Carley in 2002.

Mr. Levy currently sits on the board of The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley and the alumni board of the Santa Clara University School of Law. He is a board member of the international advocacy group IP Justice, and holds membership in both the Santa Clara County Bar Association and La Raza Law Association. Mr. Levy is an officer and part owner of an online import business, and has volunteered as the editor emeritus of Santa Clara University’s legal newspaper, The Advocate, for the past 10 years.

Mr. Levy holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief for the law school’s newspaper. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business in the cross-cultural environment from California State University, Northridge.

Mr. Levy was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1996, and has been admitted to practice before the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California’s federal courts. He has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in the State Courts of New York and Nevada, and the District Courts of Arizona and Texas. Mr. Levy is also admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Fifth Circuits, and, in 2003, was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, Mr. Levy was a senior associate with the HS Law Group in San Jose. Mr. Levy has actively participated in numerous high-profile technology litigation matters concerning cyber-jurisdiction and trade secrets, and participated in the first case to litigate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (Universal City Studios v. Reimerdes [2600.com]).

Mr. Levy successfully argued the first Internet-jurisdiction case to be decided by the California Supreme Court in 2002 (Pavlovich v. Superior Court) and was presented with California Lawyer Magazine’s Lawyer of the Year Award in 2003. He also worked for five years on a precedent-setting trade secret case decided by the California Supreme Court in 2003 (DVDCCA v. Bunner).

In 2004, Mr. Levy was named a “Northern California Superlawyer” by the publishers of Law & Politics and San Francisco Magazine, ranking him in the top 5% of northern California attorneys. In 2005, Mr. Levy was named one of the “Top 40 under 40” by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Mr. Levy has presented seminars on issues of technology and law at Linux World, DVDPro, and the RSA Security Conference. Mr. Levy has had articles published in the San Francisco Daily Journal, the Los Angeles Daily Journal, and Copyright World.
